Some time ago I was in the middle of a project related with a website that I had in mind. After surfing the web for hours looking for the best software to make photo galleries I find out that most of the blogger and sites were talking about some script called “Coppermine Photo Gallery“.
After downloading it and play a little bit with it I was needed of some help, so I ask for it in the popular Support Forum. I was astonished by the speed and accurate of the replies given by the supporters. I solved my problem that same day.
As soon as I started to know better the software, more questions come up. Visiting the support forum was a daily thing then. I started to be more interested on the software itself and ‘where could I take it to’ more than the project that I had in mind. After a month of playing I began to reply the easiest questions made by new members.
Sadly, the Spanish Sub-board was closed then. And the managers of the Project Joachim Müller was refused to re-open it after a couple of ‘failed re-openings’ and being lacking of someone (that belongs to the Developers Team) who knows Coppermine and Spanish as well. That’s when I saw my opportunity!
I continued supporting in English for a while and finally with the help of “just_some_guy” (US programmer) we ask for the re-opening of the Spanish Sub-board. And we got it!
It’s beautiful the sensation of feeling that you’re helping people and you only wait for a “Thank you” as payment.
Behind the screen it’s me, and believe me when I say that many times that I felt a little blue a little “Thanks” makes that blue goes far away. I mean it.
I would like to thank to all CPG’s users that make this project grow every day and Open Source Software as well. Many thanks to the members who come looking for an answer to their problems into the Forum Support and gives gratitude to paying for it. Thank you so much!
